The
Jaffe-Mellor Technique - JMT™
A Powerful New Form Of Energetic Medicine
Provides
Real And Lasting Relief For Chronic Degenerative Diseases
by
Carolyn Jaffe, D.Ac., Ph.D. (c), C.Ht.
The Jaffe-Mellor Technique (JMT™) successfully
provides help to people struggling with chronic degenerative disorders
such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia,
chronic fatigue syndrome, interstitial cystitis, Crohn's disease,
colitis, Lyme disease, scleroderma, multiple sclerosis and other
demyelinating diseases, immune mediated thyroid disease, trauma
related pain disorders, and allergies resulting from adverse reactions
to foods, inhalants, contactants, and drugs.
Health
disorders that last "forever".
How
interesting, that in youth we gathered around the campfire and
dreamed dreams of greatness. Years dragged lazily by, we chose
mates, and settled down to raise our children. Once the kids
were tucked in, and the lights were turned down low, we tiptoed
down the stairs to join our friends and talked proudly of our
children; their college educations, orthodontia bills, and other
family needs. Once the children were grown and living on their
own, it was common to gather around the coffee table with friends
and talk about our aches and pains and the concerns we all had
about contracting some serious illnesses, drug side effects,
the results of medical tests, and how we would keep up with the
escalating cost of insurance premiums. What a picture this paints.
While every generation faces new problems, the health challenges
become inevitably greater as we age. No doubt this is because
with each passing day, we are exposed to more insults that compromise
our health: food additives and colorings, hormones and antibiotic-adultered
meats and dairy, air and noise pollution, prescription and over
the counter drugs, minimal exercise, sleep deprivation, and of
course increased stress, just to name a few.
Osteoarthritis,
rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, CFIDS, interstitial cystitis,
lupus, Crohn's, colitis, Lyme disease, scleroderma, multiple
sclerosis and other immune mediated neurologic diseases, immune
mediated thyroid disease, asthma and allergies are accepted as
lingering health disorders that require dependency upon drugs
for any kind of relief, but never quite resolve anything. These
and other related conditions are disorders that make us shake
in our shoes. We're scared because we know these are not just
temporary challenges to our health like a bout with the flu that's
bound to pass, or a broken toe that will certainly heal in time.
These are diseases that do not run their course in a reasonable
period of time and leave us in peace. These are diseases that
alter the course of our lives and the way we live, and often
leave us in pieces. It would of course be unfair to blame everything
on the outside world as the culprits for creating mass chaos
on the inside of us. There is the reality of genetic pre-disposition
passed down to us from preceding generations in the form of miasms.
Inheritances, we wished we would not have been willed to inherit,
but nonetheless, add to our inherent weaknesses. These miasms,
along with the numerous factors that make us more vulnerable
as we grow older, leave us candidate for still other factors
from the outside world that threaten the tranquility of good
health.
The Incredible
Immune System
Like an old friend that can be depended upon through thick and thin,
our immune system constantly stands vigil defending us against any
perceived enemy. However, in certain health conditions, like the
"autoimmune disorders" the immune system, the very system
that exists for the sole purpose of protecting us, becomes hijacked
to work against us. Threats to our health from outside our bodies,
in the form of viruses and bacteria, can often be defended by proper
hygiene, avoidance of dangerous circumstances, and making wise
choices. But threats that linger on the inside are still another
matter. How do you defend yourself against your own defenses? Compromise
of the normal regulation of the immune system is a fundamental
feature of chronic degenerative diseases. This is a complex subject,
but one that can be explained by looking with new eyes. The reader
will be rewarded with a new understanding of these all too common
maladies - and by considering a new pathway to wellness that is
both safe and effective.
Our
body is like a microcosm of the universe, with its vast varieties
of materials and energies. The greater part of the planet earth
is actually made up of inanimate materials like water, soil,
and rock. But there are other things as well that inhabit this
planet, that are very animated, like plants and animals. All
living things have a body that is comprised of a quantity of
inanimate materials that occupy some volume of space and some
sort of force, and of energy that brings that mass to life. Religious
leaders refer to that force as spirit; the founders of Oriental
medicine call it qi. Philosophies may differ on what the nature
of that life force is; but there does not seem to be a good argument
against the fact that it does indeed exist. From the moment of
conception to the moment of death all living things are involved
in a struggle for survival. It is a struggle against the physical
forces of nature, and the effects of time. It is also a struggle
against other life forms that would arrest the matter and energy
of another living things to support their own requirements for
survival.
Humans
and animals consume other plant and animal life to survive. After
death, plants and animals are returned to their component building
blocks of matter and energy by the action of microorganisms.
As humans, we disburse a great deal of effort making sure that
process is delayed as long as possible. The occurrences of illness
we experience in life mark our battles fought against an increasingly
dangerous population of microorganisms that populate our world.
Those battles are fought by specialized cells that make up our
immune system, according to the blueprint of their design and
function with specificity in our DNA (genetic material).
Living
things are unique from inanimate materials in that living things
can acquire and use materials and energy to develop and mature.
They can also repair and maintain themselves throughout their
life, and produce new generations of offspring. Life requires
a give and take of materials and energy between living things,
and their environment; but it must be a very tightly regulated
give and take. Living things must be able to establish and maintain
very precise internal conditions in order to survive and prosper.
While we may have skin to separate our internal environment from
the external environment, it is not possible for us to live completely
sealed off from the world outside of us. So, we have the ability
to open our internal environment to the external environment
in a highly controlled way. For example, our digestive system
breaks down our foods to their component parts, and selectively
allows those parts that are needed to pass through our intestinal
wall into our bloodstream -- our internal environment. This is
done in order to obtain the chemical energy and materials we
require to build and repair ourselves. Another example is the
respiratory system, which allows the exchange of oxygen and carbon
dioxide, two gasses that are parts of the metabolic cycle of
life; but permits the exchange in a very controlled way. If these
tight controls were absolutely perfect and without flaw, living
things would not require immune systems. Unfortunately, this
is not the case. So while the physiological barriers, like skin,
certain protective enzymes, the pH, and temperature of our bodies
are the first lines of defense, it is still necessary to have
an immune system to further defend us when these barriers have
been bypassed.
The
immune system of humans and animals is a vast and complex detection
system comprised of specialized white blood cells, lymph glands,
spleen, appendix, tonsils, and the portions of the nervous system
and endocrine system that control the function of these specialized
cells. When unwanted substances, even microorganisms, manage
to get past the barriers that separate our internal and external
environments, it is our immune system that perceives their presence
in the body and targets these foreign offenders for annihilation.
The immune system has a very powerful arsenal. Some cells of
the immune system have the job of engulfing and liquefying invading
organisms, while other cells produce chemicals such as immunoglobulins
or antibodies, that damage invaders, or neutralize chemical toxins
the foreign invaders produce. Some white blood cells release
tiny packets of enzymes so powerful they literally bore holes
in the membranes of virus-infected cells causing those cells
to bleed themselves to death.
When The Immune
System Is Confused You Can Bet Problems Will Begin
From the above description of the physiological barriers and the
immune system defenses that are programmed to regulate our inner
environment, it would seem reasonable to believe we would be safe
from the dangers lurking in the outside environment. Unfortunately
reason does not guarantee absolute protection against the many existing
dangers that hang around us. There are microorganisms that are able
to survive our defenses. Fortunately, some of these microorganisms
work cooperatively with us, like lactobacillus, and acidophilus,
the "friendly flora" that live on our skin, mucous membranes,
and in our intestines, and are unable to cause disease in and of
themselves, yet perform a vital function by competing with dangerous
microorganisms, like e-coli, which could be detrimental to our
health if their numbers grew out of control. While we have friendly
flora that help in the defense effort, there are some microorganisms
that survive our defenses and do cause disease because the byproducts
of their metabolic processes poison, intoxicate, or destroy the
cells within us. In the event our defenses are too low to fight
off the effects of the harmful organisms, synthetic drugs and extracts
from medicinal plants may be required to assist in protecting us.
There
are other microorganisms living in our body that don't produce
toxins capable of significantly damaging our tissues, or even
compromising essential body functions, yet, they cause confusion
and chaos in our immune system which results in malfunction.
So, chaos and confusion in such a powerful system is very, very
dangerous. If the weapons of the immune system should become
misdirected, they could wind up targeting our body's own tissues,
with the prospect of creating terrible consequences.
Confusion in the
Immune System
"Autoimmune" is a term that suggests the body turns on
itself without reason, and attacks its own tissues. Imagine if you
will, that this theory is wrong, and that what is actually happening
is, microorganisms residing perhaps in the tissues in and around
joints, or living in the tissues that make up the nervous system,
or in the tissues of the digestive system, or in the endocrine system,
or harbored in connective tissue, and so on, are surviving the defense
actions of the immune system. These "stealth pathogens"
have the ability to work incognito and camouflage themselves, because
the chemical structure of their cell wall is unfamiliar to the immune
system. Instead of destroying the foreign invader, the defense cells
of the immune system get agitated and initiate a misdirected attack
on the body itself. The same arsenal of immune system mediators
and destructive chemicals that should be targeting these "stealth
pathogens", are erroneously taking aim at the wrong time,
and thing and ultimately damaging and killing our own cells and
tissues.
Imagine
the consequences of an unregulated immune system that targets
unrelenting attacks in the nervous system for instance. These
attacks will undoubtedly damage the cells that are most exposed
to such activity, like the Schwann cells that cover and insulate
nerve fibers. Scientifically, damaged Schwann cells result in
diseases like multiple sclerosis and other demyelinating conditions.
When the chaotic immune system activity occurs in and around
the synovial joint, it causes inflammation and pain that, over
time will result in the breakdown of the cartilage and other
connective tissues resulting in arthritic conditions. When unregulated
immune system action is targeted at tissues of the digestive
tract the resulting inflammation will cause gut permeability
and a weakness in the mucosal membrane that allows all sorts
of toxic materials to leak out and be absorbed into the body.
Repeated attempts by the immune system at destroying the stealth
pathogens prove futile, and only contribute to compromising the
integrity of the gut membrane with each repeated attack. Eventually,
the mucous membrane of the gut is so damaged, that surgery must
be implemented to remove necrotic portions as a last resort.
These
examples support the premise that this is exactly what occurs
in the bodies of patients suffering from many chronic degenerative
diseases. The nature of the patient's disease is primarily determined
by the preference these pathogens have for one area of the body
over another, and the appearance of the disease follows the destruction
of cells in the area attacked by the immune system. Typically
the progression of such autoimmune mediated degenerative diseases
is slow and deliberate, causing much suffering and imposing unwanted
changes and limitations in the lifestyle of the one struggling
with the disorder.
The Conventional
Medicine Approach to Chronic, Degenerative Diseases
Arthritis,
Crohn's, lupus, MS and other diseases, as distinct as they are
from one another in the way they manifest, are addressed by conventional
allopathic medicine in much the same way across the board. Conventionally,
physicians treat nearly all of these disorders with synthetic
drugs that for the most part suppress immune system function.
These drugs are commonly prescribed in a three-tier approach
starting with (NSAIDS) non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, then
(DMARDS), the disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs when the
NSAIDS fail, and finally the experimental drugs, some of which
include anti-cancer drugs like Methotrexate, which is cytotoxic
and acts as an immunosuppressant. In cases of arthritis, surgery
is often used to repair, or replace damaged joints. Surgery is
also used to either repair or remove portions of the digestive
system when tissues have experienced extreme damage resulting
from immune system attacks. Drugs and surgery will be implemented
in almost every chronic degenerative disease, and while all of
these treatments have very serious risks associated with their
use, the risks of these treatments are usually less than the
risks of allowing the condition to progress unrestrained. Nonetheless,
the world needs a better solution to these debilitating problems
than toxic drugs, or dangerous surgeries.
There Is A Way
To Stop These Unregulated Immune System Attacks On The Body
There is an alternative way of intervening clinically in these compromised
conditions with treatments that are safe and effective and, it is
possible to provide patients with treatment that can maneuver the
immune system away from the errors of unregulated function, and
stop the attacks on the body's tissues. It would mean the primary
cause of the ongoing disorder would be eliminated, and the immune
system could return to its essential function as protector, rather
than persecutor of the body it is part of. The new method of health
care called JMT™ treatment does just that. JMT™ is
able to restore the normal control systems the body uses to maintain
health.
The Symbiotic
Relationship Between the Nervous System and the Immune System
Since
the nervous system has the ability to communicate with all parts
of the body, and because the immune system is on patrol throughout
the entirety of the body, it is reasonable to assume the nervous
system plays a major role in governing over the activity of the
immune system. This is further confirmed by the research of a
new breed of medical detectives in the field of psychoneuroimmunology
who have come to recognize the interaction between the immune
system and the nervous system. For instance, it is only recently
that certain cells were discovered to have neurotransmitter receptors.
This discovery has provided the evidence needed to support the
certainty that the nervous system acts as a primary player in
the regulation of immune system activity. What makes the nervous
system unique from any other bodily tissues is the way it has
been designed to adapt to change in response to signals from
the external environment. Incredibly, the nervous system actually
transforms itself structurally in response to the flowing in
of data fragments along nerve pathways. The nervous system modifies
the synaptic connections in response to these data fragments,
thereby changing both its own structure and its function based
on its experience. In this way it is very much like a computer.
So, the nervous system, like the computer, can be physically
altered by the data input over its sensory pathways. Because
the nervous system has the ability to change, its function can
be modified. To return the body to normal function without using
harmful drugs or dangerous invasive techniques is the ongoing
objective of every practitioner embracing the tenets of some
form of energy medicine. The quantum leap to achieving this goal
is accomplished by verbally inputting corrective information
along the sensory pathways of the nervous system and then reinforcing
this modification by tapping along spinal segments.
Jaffe-Mellor
Technique (JMT™) Is An Effective Method For Correcting
Chronic Degenerative Diseases
The
Jaffe-Mellor Technique (JMT) is a form of energetic medicine
developed for treatment of chronic degenerative diseases. The
founders of this method are Carolyn Jaffe, D.Ac., Ph.D. (c) naturopathy,
and Judy Mellor, R.N., Ph.D. (c) nutrition, both of whom have
practiced acupuncture and alternative medicine in their offices
in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania for many years. They made observations
about the chronic diseases afflicting the patients who consulted
with them, and developed hypotheses about the origin of these
diseases. Jaffe and Mellor thought the theory that relates these
chronic degenerative diseases to the influences of microorganisms
in our immune system fit well with observations they made about
patients suffering from these conditions. Jaffe and Mellor began
their pursuit more than a decade ago working their way to develop
a clinical protocol that would influence the course of such diseases.
Dr. Jaffe discusses their pursuit of a safe and effective way
to help patients with chronic degenerative diseases:
"The founders of Oriental medicine recognized that many illnesses
could be caused by pathogens and coined the umbrella term external
pathogenic factor (EPF) for bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi,
mold, or any microorganism that invades the body. After years of
research, my associate and I concluded that EPFs are the underlying
cause of these chronic conditions, which relentlessly assaults
the immune system resulting in pain and destruction of tissue.
Our goal was to find a safe and effective way to neutralize pathogens
without the use of drugs or ingestants, invasive therapies, surgery,
allergy elimination, stringent dietary restrictions, topical applications,
or cleanses. We observed and noted every similarity between patients
who had a medical diagnosis of either osteo-, gouty, psoriatic,
or rheumatoid arthritis. What we found was that there were very
few similarities. Food intake for some patients was high in fat
and sugar and low in vitamins and minerals, while in others the
opposite was true. While age of onset varied, as did gender and
demographics, there was no common link for the conditions.
After researching possible causes, we found specific pathogens
that tested positive in almost every patient. Addressing the causative
agent helped to stop a significantly high percentage of pain in
almost every patient, without the need for drastic changes, and
it also appeared to halt the progression of the diseases."
"The basis of our JMT™ research is Darwin's evolutionary
theory that links all living organisms-from protozoa to pigs. Although
there are other variables, we considered the possibility that diseases,
such as arthritis, might actually result from the presence of a
microorganism residing in the host-one that is highly intelligent
and adapts well to change. For the most part, natural selection
is ignored in microorganisms that cause disease and primarily recognized
in large organisms. Interestingly, the evolutionary change that
occurs in disease organisms is brief when compared to larger organisms.
They are able to mutate and adapt to a changing environment in
days or weeks, rather than years or decades.
Unable to lay absolute blame on any one real cause for diseases
such as arthritis, MS, lupus, scleroderma, myasthenia gravis, and
fibromyalgia, the scientific community hypothesized that these
disorders were resulting from an immune system gone wild and reacting
against itself, while the nonconventional practitioners leaned
toward theories suspicious of mercury toxicity caused by amalgams
in the teeth, geopathic influences, poor drinking water, excessive
sugar consumption, heavy metals, and parasites."
"In an effort to kill the pathogen that insidiously sets up
housekeeping in the body, the brain alerts the immune system to
continuously attack all areas on or around the microbial colony,
which, in the case of arthritis, includes the muscles, joints,
cartilage, and bone tissue itself. The pattern of attacks becomes
increasingly more intense, going deeper and wider, destroying the
healthy tissue as it wages war on its enemy -- the pathogen. The
outcome is inflammation in such excess that it creates swelling,
heat, stiffness, and pain with pockets of white blood cells that
can only be reduced by siphoning and steroids. This therapy is,
at best, temporary for rheumatoid arthritis and threatening to
the pathogen, which does the only intelligent thing that can be
done -- re-colonize at still another new site. In the same manner,
the osteoarthritic suffers with pain and stiffness from cartilage
and bone tissue being worn away. The immune system constantly attacks
unceasingly at the hidden invader, eating everything in its path.
JMT™ Treatment
of
Autoimmune Mediated Chronic Degenerative Diseases & MRT
First, the patient completes an intake
form that informs the practitioner about what symptoms they have,
what treatments they have been exposed to, and the results of those
treatments. The patient is then interviewed and examined by the
doctor to determine if their condition involves the presence of
external pathogenic factors or if there are other underlying causes
leading to the disorder. Using muscle response testing (MRT), a
unique form of Applied Kinesiology, which was first, introduced
by Dr. George Goodheart, DC back in the early 1960's as a diagnostic
tool, the tester is able to formulate some conclusions based on
the testing. Many types of health care providers - acupuncturists,
naturopaths, chiropractors, dentists, body workers, and even some
more progressive medical doctors, use muscle testing as part of
their examination. The MRT procedures developed by Jaffe and Mellor
are distinct from all other styles of Applied Kinesiology because
of a.) blind testing to validate the accuracy of the test, b.) a
high level of specificity in the kind of question it can present
to the body of the patient, and c.) the ability to frame very specific
corrective instructions to the nervous system of the patient. As
Jaffe and Mellor repeat so often during their seminar trainings,
"If you want to be terrific, you have to be specific."
In the MRT examination the practitioner
observes changes in the strength of an isolated muscle against
an established baseline. Typically, the anterior deltoid muscle of
the patient's dominant arm is used as an indicator, however any
muscle can be used. MRT testing is particularly helpful because it accesses the
(ANS) autonomic nervous system, which operates on a subconscious level, and is
involved in controlling every body function. Unlike the conscious mind, the ANS
subconsciously influences the heart rate, digestion, dilation and contraction
of the pupils of the eyes, etc. The uniqueness of MRT is that it can circumvent
the conscious mind and disclose what is happening in the internal environment.
Using
the analogy of a television studio as our subconscious mind,
we can select a channel, in much the same way that we might wish
to investigate the various pathways of the autonomic nervous
system and then fine tune it for clear reception by dictating
certain queries that allow us to investigate internal functioning.
The isolated testing muscle acts as a reception device in much
the same way a television screen does, receiving bits of information
to form a clear picture. So, MRT should not be thought of as
some sort of mysterious magic trick; but simply as a type of
conversation that takes place on a non-verbal level between the
practitioner and the patient's subconscious - an exchange of
information that is gathered without asking the patient. Ultimately,
the practitioner is inputting information to the patient, which
travels along the sensory pathways of the patient's nervous system.
The patient's ANS evaluates the input data, and responds over
its motor pathways with a reflex response in the selected muscle
that will either exhibit no change and remain strong, or a clear
temporary weakening that relays a yes/no, positive/negative response
to the testing. The test has nothing to do with dexterity, but
simply informs the practitioner about functional neurology.
Patients are given instructions in
how to be the subject of an MRT examination at their first JMT™ treatment.
They are instructed to lay face up, and to relax. In an attempt
to access the subconscious part of the nervous system, the practitioner
advises the patient to refrain from asking questions or talking
once the session has begun. This is done in an attempt to avoid
stimulating the conscious mind. When the examiner begins the MRT
examination, the dominant arm is chosen. The examiner will apply
gently increasing force against the arm while the patient resists.
The patient is told to use only their shoulder muscles to meet
the examiner's resistance. One of two responses is possible in
the patient during MRT examination - either they will be able to
meet the examiner's resistance, or they will see the arm test weak.
What
Will The MRT Testing Reveal?
In the not too distant past, JMT™ used small
glass vials filled with distilled water and
the energetic signature of some chosen test substance to evaluate
the reflex response. The ampule was placed somewhere on the patient's
body; commonly in the hand, and the patient was asked to resist the practitioner's
stress against the arm. The vial might have contained the energetic signature
of external pathogenic factors discussed earlier, or if testing for allergic
sensitivities, the vials might contain various foods, inhalants, or contactants.
Previously, the test vials were manufactured by a method that electronically
imprinted the water with a binary energetic signature that caused it to appear
to the body as the "real thing". This method of replicating
any substance in its energy form is similar to creating homeopathic
remedies where a water-alcohol solution is imprinted with the energetic
signature of the component medicinals that are to be a part of the
homeopathic preparation. When the patient demonstrated a positive
(weak) MRT reaction to a vial containing the energetic signature
of a certain pathogen (EPF), this informed the practitioner that
the contents of the vial had prodded the ANS to recognize the underlying
cause of the patient's problem to be the presence of microorganisms
which had incited unregulated immune system activity. The same assumption
existed when the patient demonstrated a weak MRT in response to
vials containing the energy of allergens. Again, the reflexive "weak"
response indicated a malfunction in the autonomic nervous system
to the end that the cells of the immune system were agitated and
over-reacting without regulation to safe non-self. In either case,
the weak muscle response indicated that the patient was a good candidate
for being treated with the JMT™ protocol.
JMT™ Makes
A Quantum Leap - No Needles and No Vials
JMT™ has made new advancements that now enable the practitioner
to investigate the autonomic nervous system for glitches without
using vials. While the energized vials were
a means to an end, the process of resolving allergies and complex
degenerative disorders was slow and tedious. The vials that were
placed in the patient's hand were only as good as the speculation
on the part of the practitioner as to why the patient was demonstrating
symptoms in the first place. Each time the practitioner placed a
vial in the patient's hand, s/he looked for a clear indication from
the testing arm that would put the practitioner on some course.
The problem however, was that the vials in and of themselves never
really revealed anything. The key to uncovering the true cause of
the disorder lay with the practitioner's ability to access the autonomic
nervous system - and this is done with the MRT.
While the ANS is perfectly capable of communicating on a subconscious
level with its internal environment, it has no way of communi-cating
to the conscious level verbally. Its' only communication to the
external environment is by subtle changes, like the ones observed
in a muscle test. Since the ANS depends on all stimuli flowing in
via the sensory pathways to moderate the necessary changes, the
energy of the spoken word (from the practitioner) provokes the internal
evaluation for function. So any corrections that would be made would
hinge on the practitioner's ability to interrogate the ANS appropriately,
and then make the necessary changes using specific verbal commands.
Pathway after neurological pathway, the practitioner would comb
for bits of negative information that would be embedded and impairing
the patient's ability to recover optimum health. Once having uncovered
these pixels of negative information, the JMT™ practitioner
like, an archaeologist on a digging exposition, would uncover old
messages that took on the structure of perverse patterns, adding
to the already existent dilemma. Like a bad flashback, these perverse
data patterns continued to hold the negative energy of bodily insults
(pathogens, trauma, allergies, emotional upheaval, etc.) and played
them out in the body over and over again. These engrams of negative
information that had been embedded for so long in a specific pathway
had to be removed in order to restore proper functioning.
This method requires gentle tapping
at the paraspinous muscles located lateral to the spinal segments
by using either an activator which, is a chiropractic adjusting
instrument, or an arthrostim, which is a device that provides mild
percussion in rapid succession. The technique produces specially
selected sensory input to initiate more correct control of body
function by the nervous system. The JMT™ protocol allows
for as many as ten corrections during any one visit, but this too,
is engineered by the responses from the patient's autonomic nervous
system. On subsequent office visits, continued evaluation of the
ANS, along with the many neurological pathways, and systems within
the body are tested to ensure that the patient is moving in a positive
direction. Further steps in treatment involve using MRT to determine
which tissue sites are under attack by the immune system, and using
specific corrective scripts to trigger the immune system to stop
its attack on those body tissues. Once the destructive behavior
of the immune system has been checked, subsequent treatments are
performed to prompt the body to optimize repair of damaged tissues.
In a very real sense, what we are describing here is a sort of
informational medicine - quite functional, quite effective, quite
fast, quite observable.
Along the way, homeopathic remedies may be given temporarily to
help the body eliminate toxic materials that have built up in the
tissues as a result of the disease process. One thing that should
be clear from this description of JMT™ treatment is that it
is exceedingly safe. JMT™ utilizes the very control systems
in the body that were created for healing the body, reversing disease,
and repairing. Even the safest of the anti-inflammatory drugs sold
over the counter for the pain of arthritis are acknowledged to cause
thousands of deaths each year in the United States alone from hemorrhaging
somewhere in the digestive system. JMT™ treatment, by contrast,
has not been shown to cause any harm. There is no discomfort in
JMT™ treatment, nor are there diet modifications or lifestyle
changes, though non-toxic homeopathic medicines and nutritional
supplements may be recommended temporarily to hasten the return
to health. Unlike many treatment approaches to these chronic degenerative
diseases that may span many years, if not the rest of the patient's
life JMT™ treatments commonly take from 3 to 24 visits, depending
upon the chronicity and the complexity of the disorder. The more
acute the onset of the problem, the more likely the recovery will
be swift. Commonly, trauma-related pain syndromes can resolve within
2-4 treatments. Patients' generally complete treatment in these
time frames and the improvement they experience is long lasting.
It Is Not Necessary To Have A Specific Diagnosis Of A
Chronic Degenerative Disease In Order To Be Helped By JMT™
The pathogens responsible for agitating
the immune system into an attack mode, like the ones in osteoarthritis
can effectively be treated within a remarkably short period of time
with JMT™. This is true in part because these microorganisms
are not highly virulent. They can exist for years in the body before
the cumulative damage resulting from immune system attacks does
enough harm to warrant the medical diagnosis of osteoarthritis.
Long before the cartilage is worn down to nothing, patients have
symptoms. It often takes years however before they progress to
the point where they fit accepted medical diagnostic criteria for
osteoarthritis. This is true regarding all chronic degenerative
diseases like fibromyalgia, Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis,
multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, etc. At the early stages of osteoarthritis,
patients can easily be tested for the presence of pathogens, and
can be assured of responding very quickly to treatment since the
tissue damage these patients
have sustained is minimal.
Treating
Osteoarthritis Using JMT™ Demonstrates Marked Pain
Relief In As Little As 5-8 Treatments
Case
#1
A chiropractor who was treated at
a JMT™ training seminar explained that he had endured arthroscopic
surgery to alleviate knee pain back in 1996. The video of that surgery
demonstrated advanced osteoarthritic changes in his knees and his
surgeon told him that the grinding smooth of his cartilage would
last only so long - that he would require a knee prosthesis at some
point. The chiropractor used nutritionals such as chondroitin sulphate,
glucosamine sulphate, and MSM with good results to control his knee
pain and inflammation for years until 2001, when his condition worsened
to the point where his activities were limited. Walking often hurt,
stair climbing hurt, sleeping face down or with ankles crossed hurt,
and legs felt heavy and wooden at the end of a workday. Reluctantly,
he found it necessary to use anti-inflammatory drugs during one
week out of every four to six weeks. The chiropractor was treated
with the JMT™ protocol for OA at the first JMT™ seminar
he attended in the fall of 2001. He was in the middle of one of
his worst episodes of knee pain. Within a week of the first of
two treatments all knee pain was gone, and has not returned since
that time.
Case #2
These days, John W. is enjoying every
single moment he can with his grandson in an effort to make up
for time lost. Having enough time was never the issue - arthritis was!
For more than eight years, John had been dependent upon steroid
injections and other drugs to control the pain and progression of his osteoarthritis.
As his condition deteriorated, it was necessary for John to endure surgical intervention
to replace a cartilage-eroded left knee and maintain a drug regimen that also
included antidepressants and sleeping aids. John's wife Mary watched helplessly
as his condition impacted negatively on their marriage. John was irritable and
had little to no interest in sexual relations or social happenings.
In desperation Mary read everything she could on the subject of
osteoarthritis and urged her husband to add glucosamine and chondroitin along
with Knox gelatin to his daily regimen. While changes in diet including an increase
in essential fatty acids (EFAs), and calcium/magnesium supplementation were added,
no apparent reduction in John's pain was noticed. When John's rheumatologist
announced that John would need a right knee replacement in less than two years
following the initial knee surgery, John's wife arranged for him to see a chiropractor.
After nine adjustments, John complained that the manipulation actually increased
the pain. Once again, John's wife sought help outside of conventional medicine
and made an appointment for John to see an acupuncturist. John was treated with
acupuncture and Chinese herbs, but without much success.
Having recalled reading about the Jaffe-Mellor Technique (JMT™)
in the November 2000 issue of Alternative Medicine magazine (see
archives in www.alternativemedicine.com, type arthritis is search
window, scroll down to "Reversing Arthritis with the Jaffe-Mellor
Technique"), John and his wife made arrangements to come to
Pennsylvania in the hopes of being helped. With little more than
a spark of hope left, John was seen and evaluated in the spring
of 2001. Examination revealed some swelling with deformity and
complaints of severe pain at various joints including fingers,
wrists, and right knee with residual pain on flexion at medial
meniscus at surgical site of left knee. Right knee movement was
restricted, with flexion limited to 75%, and inability to fully
extend the leg. Crepitus demonstrated on flexion and felt on palpation.
John's complexion was somewhat pasty, tongue pale and slightly
swollen with a thin white coating. His pulse was thin and deficient.
He disliked the cold and his legs below the knees were cold to
the touch. Urine and stools were unremarkable. Appetite and sleep
were governed by pain.
After reviewing John's intake, he was tested using MRT for the presence
of the microorganism thought to be the primary instigator for cartilage
erosion. His testing positive was of no surprise, as 98% of all
non-trauma induced osteoarthritics test positive for the presence
of the EPF. In an effort to deactivate the pathogen, we used verbal
commands to neutralize and deactivate the pathogen, and at follow-up
once again used precise terminology to curtail immune system attacks
at John's joint sites. It is necessary to influence change in the
autonomic nervous system by mechanical manipulation bilaterally
along the paraspinous muscles, at the spinal segments to activate
the neural network. The entire treatment takes less than fifteen
minutes. In John's case, like the majority of patient's using JMT™
for osteoarthritis, his pain was completely eliminated within six,
fifteen-minute treatments. At one-year follow-up, John remains asymptomatic
with evidence of cartilage regeneration on x-ray. This is historic,
as nothing has ever been able to stop the progression of osteoarthritis
and surgery is imminent in the vast majority of patients not treated
with JMT™.
Recurrent Spinal and Joint Problems Responsive To JMT™ Treatment
Some patients who have ongoing problems
in a particular area of their spine, hips, knees, and/or shoulders
become very frustrated with their attempts to bring their painful conditions
to a resolution. Their problems may have begun post-trauma such as after a motor
vehicle accident, or they may develop gradually with episodes of pain becoming
a little more frequent and severe each year. These are cases where the medical
diagnosis may not include arthritis, and yet the stealth pathogens we have spoken
of are often a key factor in the recurrence of symptoms, because the trauma has
left the tissue site vulnerable to pathogen habitation. Some of these patients'
treatment attempts may include repeated prescriptions for muscle relaxants, pain
pills, and anti-inflammatories. Others may use physical therapy, acupuncture,
massage, or chiropractic manipulation for relief. Regardless of the type of treatment
these patients attempt, the relief is short-lived.
Case #1
A 21-year old male college basketball
player had injured his knee two years earlier and despite conventional
medical care continued to experience pain in the injured knee whenever
he bent it. He was restricted from playing basketball, which ultimately
created a lot of frustration and upset. Orthopedic arthroscopy was
not remarkable as there was suggestion of arthritis. Despite his
young age, the young man tested positive for the pathogen implicated
in osteoarthritis. He was treated with the JMT™ osteoarthritis
protocol and noticed a remarkable decline in pain almost immediately.
At follow-up, the young man was treated with the intention of halting
the erratic immune system attacks at specific joint sites, and
by the fifth and final treatment the young man was 100% pain free
and able to resume his position on the basketball team.
JMT™ Successfully
Relieves Joint and Muscle Pain Even When There Is No Evidence
Of Pathogenic Activity
Statistically, it used to be more
common to see patients seeking help for osteoarthritis pain relief
in the 50+ age group. This statistic however has changed, and the age has dropped
dramatically to include people in their twenties, thirties and forties with complaints
of chronic joint and muscle pain, tendonitis, fasciaitis, ligamentitis, bursitis,
and even osteoarthritis where the cartilage is already demonstrating deterioration
on x-ray. Pathogens are not the only things that incite erratic immune system
behavior; trauma too, will draw the attention of the immune mediators to any
body site that has been subjected to abuse. It is not uncommon for post accident
pain to drag on for years, with chronic subluxations rebounding even after chiropractic
manipulations. Pain receptors located throughout the body become the prime target
for immune system attacks, as does a joint that has been abused by excessive
running, or muscles that have been strained beyond the stretch point. In
each one of these cases, the ANS will dispatch misinformation to
the immune system, which in response will turn on its own body tissues.
Case #1
Patients with a medical diagnosis
of plantar fasciaitis are commonly seen and successfully treated
with JMT™. Two patients come to mind: one, a kindergarten
teacher in her forties, the other a dairy farmer in his sixties.
Both cases were chronic at 2-3 years duration and had failed conventional
treatment. Both of these patients recovered within 5-6 JMT™
treatments to a degree they estimated at 90 to 100%. In each of
these cases the pathogen implicated in osteoarthritis caused a weak
reflex response using MRT; albeit neither of the two patients fit
the symptom profile of osteoarthritis. It is plausible to accept
that unbridled immune system activity targeted at the tissues of
the feet could actually incite the development of a heel spur, although
this was not the case in either of the two patients treated. When
the immune system attacks cause pain and inflammation, JMT™ is
effective in reducing the discomfort - even though the heel spur
remains. Patients with heel spurs can often avoid surgery.
Case #2
Janet R., a woman in her early sixties
worked at a local factory, hauling heavy garments. Repeated motion
using her left arm resulted in extreme pain that kept her from enjoying
a good night's sleep. Topical ointments, acupuncture, and chiropractic,
proved ineffective, as did the muscle relaxants that made her drowsy.
The pain, as Janet explained it, felt like a searing hot sensation
across her left shoulder, down her arm and into her fingers, and
over her back. Janet was treated using JMT™, which directed
the immune system to curtail all attacks on the nerves and tissues
in her left shoulder and arm. Following a total of 3 treatments,
Janet was able to resume her job without any complaints of discomfort.
Case#3
Bob S., a retired bank president
with complaints of carpal tunnel syndrome and aching at his right
elbow sought help after he was told by his doctor he would need
surgery to correct the carpal tunnel. Bob, spent a good deal of
time at his laptop and noticed over time that he experienced aching
and tingling in his finger tips with numbness that exacerbated when
he reclined. The first time Mr. S. was seen, the pain and tingling
in his hands and fingers diminished by 60% following a JMT™ treatment.
It took a total of 3 treatments for all of Bob's discomfort to
resolve.
What
About The More Aggressive, Inflammatory Disorders?
The ANS is central intelligence,
the mastermind receiving and dispatching center programmed to orchestrate
all functions in the entire body via signals that travel along sensory pathways.
There are numerous possible reasons why the bio-computer can fail to function:
1) presence of pathogens residing in nerve tissue, and in other body sites, 2)
unregulated immune system activity targeting tissues of the nervous system and
other body sites, 3) impaired nervous system tissue to feeble to function without
flaw, 4) accumulation of toxic immune system attack byproducts, causing
a breakdown in the mechanism, 5) accumulation of toxic byproducts
resulting from the metabolic processes of pathogens, 6) toxins leaking from a
permeable gut lining into the blood stream, 7) perverse data patterns, 8) failure
to find a resolve often leads to greater internal problems, where electrical
impulses demonstrate chaotic behavior and constant malfunctioning.
If the master bio-computer is malfunctioning, it is
inevitable that messages going to the immune, and other systems
in the body, will be corrupted, causing confusion and provoking
a chaotic response by the immune system. When diseases of the inflammatory
kind demonstrate with devastating symptoms, it is because the pathogens
are incredibly virulent, lending to even more extreme reactions
from an already confused immune system. The specialized cells become
so agitated, they synthesize and release their products, which
can reach highly toxic and destructive levels in the body. Evasive
and highly capable of sustaining the onslaught of the immune system,
these microorganisms can propagate to a level where the number
of symptoms can be staggering, and the potential for recovery almost
impossible.
Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus,
Lyme, and similar inflammatory connective tissue diseases have
a somewhat longer course of treatment due to the more aggressive
nature of the pathogens involved, and the degree of tissue damage
prior to initiating JMT™ treatment. These patients typically
require 12 to 24 treatments to resolve their condition. With
these more virulent forms of immune dysfunction the degree of
damage sustained before treatment may not reverse completely;
but pain level and function are greatly improved.
Fibromyalgia patients
typically test positive for a particular pathogen specific to
that condition. These patients suffer terribly with pain, fatigue,
mood swings, occasional brain fog, and sleep disorders. Treatment
in the conventional medical arena consists of a never-ending
parade of pain medications, anti-inflammatories, sleeping pills,
muscle relaxants, and anti-depressants. Fibromyalgia patients
respond with consistent success to JMT™ treatment that
can be concluded within 12-24 treatments.
Patients with Crohn's disease,
irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and other digestive system disorders,
commonly test positive for specific microorganisms. These patients
too, progress well when treated with JMT™. The pathogen involved
in these conditions is more virulent and tends to trigger immune
system attacks on the vital tissues of the digestive tract. The
damage that is caused by this process results in a permeable or
weakened gut membrane that allows toxic substances and partially
digested food components to leak into the blood stream. It is not
uncommon when this happens for patients to develop severe sensitivities
to foods. Patients may require 10 to 30 treatments to resolve their
condition.
When the immune system targets attacks
on the myelin sheath, the protective casing that insulates fibers
that comprise nerve pathways, the result may be multiple sclerosis
(MS) or some other demyelinating disease. This sheath works much
like the insulation that envelopes electrical wires and prevents
them form shorting out. A wide range of symptoms can result from
this degenerative process. The location of the damaged nerve pathways
will ultimately dictate in what parts of the body malfunction will
occur. This disease process reflects the conflict in the body to
maintain normal function during the unpredictable degrees of disregulation
of the immune system. MS appears in various forms, differing in
severity and manifestation of symptoms. Nerve tissue is the most
specialized of body cells and for that reason is the tissue most
limited in its ability to repair. Therefore, best results are seen
when treatment is begun early, before great damage has been done
to the nervous system. This factor determines the degree and speed
of recovery. Improvement in function, comfort, and sense of well-being
is observed even in patients who have already suffered considerable
nervous system damage before beginning JMT™ treatment. The
amount of treatments needed in these severely compromised neurological
disorders is unpredictable and is therefore based on each individual's
symptoms and the amount of nerve damage that he or she has endured.
In the early stages of the disease, Lyme commonly
manifests with fatigue, chills and fever, headache, muscle and
joint pain, swollen lymph nodes, and a characteristic bulls-eye
rash which is a red circular patch that appears usually 3 days
to 1 month after the bite of an infected tick at the site of the
bite. In the late stages of Lyme disease arthritis is most likely
to appear as brief bouts of pain and swelling, usually in one or
more large joints, especially the knees. Nervous system abnormalities
can include numbness, pain, Bell's palsy (paralysis of the facial
muscles, usually on one side), and meningitis (fever, stiff neck,
and severe headache). Less frequently, irregularities of the heart
rhythm occur. In some persons the rash never forms; in some, the
first and only sign of Lyme disease is arthritis, and in others,
nervous system problems are the only evidence of Lyme disease.
Lyme disease is often
difficult to diagnose because its symptoms and signs mimic those
of many other diseases. The fever, muscle aches, and fatigue of
Lyme disease can easily be mistaken for viral infections, such as
influenza or infectious mononucleosis. Joint pain can be mistaken
for other types of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis, and
neurologic signs can mimic those caused by other conditions, such
as multiple sclerosis. At the same time, other types of arthritis
or neurologic diseases can be misdiagnosed as Lyme disease.
These tests are most useful in later stages of illness, but even
then they may give inaccurate results. Laboratory tests for Lyme
disease have not yet been standardized nationally.
As with the other complex disorders caused by pathogens, Lyme can
be treated rather successfully following the same JMT™ protocol
used for rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's, fibromyalgia, etc. The
microorganism incites erratic immune system attacks at joints and
connective tissue, as well as tissue of the nervous system. Where
there are glitches in the performance of the autonomic nervous
system, this can be rather easily corrected with a combination
of verbal and/or non-verbal corrective commands and statements.
This process is further reinforced with acupressure stimulation
or percussion of vertebral sectors, and specific breathing patterns
and commonly requires between 12-24 treatments for resolve.
Any patient may be host to more than one pathogen.
This complicates the clinical picture such that the patient's symptoms
do not fit well into the diagnostic profile of any one disease.
Still, these patients respond very well to treatment, and the presence
of more than one pathogen does not drastically extend the number
of treatments required.
"Homocords",
Homeopathics, & Tissue Drainage Remedies In JMT™ Treatment
There
is a class of medicines known as homeopathic remedies that were
developed by Samuel Hanneman, M.D. in the 19th century. Dr. Hanneman
has earned the right to be called the father of homeopathic medicine
as it was due to his insight and influence that the use of homeopathic
medicines spread rapidly around the world and is widely used
in Europe, particularly England, France, and Germany where many
homeopathic medicines are manufactured.
The guiding principle of homeopathy
is the rule of "like cures like". This premise can be
simply explained by understanding that some substances, when given
in large amounts could prove fatal or at least create some set
of symptoms. Homeopathically used, these same substances administered
in miniscule amounts work as a catalyst for activating a desired
change in the function of the body. Homeopathic remedies are prepared
by repeatedly diluting a solution of the active ingredient with
water, or a combination of water and alcohol. The diluted suspension
is then exposed to physical agitation in a process called succonation.
The result of this process produces a solution that is imprinted
with the energetic signature of the active ingredient, but which
contains little, or none, of the actual ingredient since it has
been so greatly diluted. Only the energetic imprint of the ingredient
remains. Some homeopathic remedies are made by radionically imprinting
the carrier fluid with the energetic signature of the active ingredient
in a way similar to the earlier description of how vial samples
are made. Whichever method is used to produce the homeopathic remedy,
the result is an extraordinarily safe medicine that is not capable
of causing harm.
Homeopathic remedies are often found
to be supportive to the JMT™ treatments. They help open pathways
of elimination in the body, like the kidneys and the intestines,
and promote the release and removal of toxic chemicals that have
been synthesized by the immune system attacks on tissues as well
as the byproducts of the pathogens themselves.
Multi-potency remedies sometimes
referred to as homocords are also frequently used to enhance JMT™ treatment.
These substances are created essentially the same way homeopathic
remedies are, except that they are custom made based on the treatment
rendered on a specific day. So, for instance, a patient might be
treated to deactivate and eliminate some pathogen from the body.
The patient would be tested with MRT testing to see if it would
be safe and effective to give the patient a homocord of the energetic
signature of the pathogen (in its safe non-substantial form) for
which the patient was just treated. Use of the homocord generally
accelerates the rate at which the patient heals.
JMT™ treatment is safe, gentle,
and extremely effective. Each step of the JMT™ technique
requires evaluation (using MRT and appropriate questions) of the
autonomic nervous system for glitches resulting in malfunction,
and then removing the glitches by using a correction script. The
use of gentle mechanical agitation along spinal segments together
with special breathing patterns helps to reinforce the modifications.
This consistently provokes the ANS to function optimally, initiating
the body's inherent ability to heal. The pattern for these reprogramming
scripts is similar, however, the uniqueness of the ANS discrepancies/glitches
is exclusive to each patient and can be corrected immediately as
each glitch is recognized.
